Description

License (license file)

An XML-based file that contains the list of applications and quantities that a customer is licensed to use for a specific system. There are two versions of this file:

  • Unsigned License: a license file to which a registration key has not yet been applied, and which thus is not a valid license for use in an installed system. This file is created during Fulfillment.

  • Activated (or Signed) License: a license file that contains its systems registration key in encrypted format, and is secured so that it is linked to the specific system and cannot be tampered with or used in another system. Licenses are activated following installation.

License Generation

The process of generating an unsigned license using the license generator application. This process occurs during Fulfillment.

The license generator is also used to update existing licenses.

License Reference Number (LRN)

During the Fufillment process, a unique number is generated for each license.

Registration Key (RK)

A unique identifier of a specific installed Enterprise system, generated during the installation process. This key is linked to the installed software and is generated during the system installation process.

This key has 36 hexadecimal digits in the form of xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx used to identify a specific system that was installed, and linked, to system software or hardware

License Activation

The process of converting an unsigned license to a signed (activated) license using the license activation portal Home page or main UI access point for all WFO applications.. This process occurs following installation.

Product Activation

The process of uploading the activated license to the installed system in order to activate the products for which the customer purchased the license. This process occurs after license activation, using the License administration screen within the suite portal.
