Licensing workflow for a system license
-
New (unsigned) license creation during Fulfillment:
-
The licensing process begins with an initial unsigned license file that is generated after a customer order is placed. The license is then stored with a unique license reference number (LRN). In a multi-tenant SaaS environment, this license is obtained by the Service Provider Administrator.
-
For each order of the current release, customers receive a license letter that includes the LRN for that order through e-mail.
-
-
Installation: The customer’s solution is installed. For details on installation, see the Installation Guide.
-
License registration key generation: During installation, a license registration key (RK) is generated. The RK is available on the license management page.
-
License activation: Upon completion of installation, the installer activates the license using the license web application. Both the unique license reference number (LRN) for the order and the registration key (RK) are required for the activation. This creates an active (signed) license file.
If there were multiple orders and thus multiple LRNs, each LRN needs to be activated separately.
-
Product activation: To activate products, the installer signs in, and in the License administration page, uploads the newly activated license document and restarts the server.
